The application of mechanical insults to the spinal cord results in profound cellular and molecular changes, including the induction of neuronal cell death and altered gene expression profiles. We demonstrated that spinal cord cells undergo cell death in response to cyclic tensile stresses, which were dose- and time- dependent. In addition, we have identified the up regulation of various genes, in particular of the MAPK pathway, which may be involved in this cellular response.

View SamplesSTAT1 plays a cental role in the induction of interferon-stimulated genes, but interferon alpha can activate a STAT1-independent pathway that leads to gene expression.
STAT1 is essential for the inhibition of hepatitis C virus replication by interferon-λ but not by interferon-α.

View SamplesRat mast cell line RBL-2H3 was analyzed to investigate the molecular mechanism of Dectin-1-mediated activation and responses of mast cells.
Dectin-1-mediated signaling leads to characteristic gene expressions and cytokine secretion via spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) in rat mast cells.

View SamplesAda1, Spt-Ada-Gcn5 Acetyltransferase (SAGA) complex component, was isolated as boundary factor that separated silenced chromatin and euchromatin by previous screening, and Ada1 maintains SAGA complex integrity. SAGA complex is one of a histone modification complex that has multiple functions contributing to transcriptional activation. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, silencing is occurred by Sir protein complex, which deacetylates histones and form high-order chromatin structure. Gcn5, SAGA complex component, has histone acetyltransferase activity, which is considered that antagonize to silencing by the screening.
